Lucy Elam, owner of Summit Science, has the ability to assimilate a large amount of complex medical information and summarize it concisely in an easily understood style. She holds a Master of Science degree in public health. Her knowledge of human physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics allows her to distill complex information into accurate, evidence-based copy for both lay and medical audiences.

Ms. Elam's writing experience includes monographs, continuing medical education materials, grants, and summaries of complex research for lay audiences. The topics of her written materials include obesity, parenteral and enteral nutrition, hepatitis, liver disease and transplantation, Alzheimer's disease, childhood development, and maternal depression.

Her work with research faculty at the University of Chicago and the University of Rochester has resulted in successful applications for grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society to fund research on irritable bowel disease and colon cancer. Ms. Elam has assisted faculty at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University on numerous manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Ms. Elam has extensive experience working with faculty and students for whom English is a second language.
